The Best Trails and Rides in Park City for Beginner Mountain Bikers
Mountain biking can be an intimidating sport, but it doesn't have to be. All you need to get your feet (tires?) wet is a bit of smooth singletrack and a gentle grade. Next, mix in a few trail features like rollers, small jumps, and a few simple rocks—you'll be honing your skills and building confidence in no time! Luckily, Park City has 400+ miles of trails and many of them are ripe for beginner riders. All the trails link out to the greater singletrack network—letting you explore more and build skills! The rides listed below start at the most basic level and move up in difficulty while still being fit for beginner riders. These mountain bike trails and rides are great for families with young children too who are just starting to get onto singletrack!
Practice Loop – Round Valley
Back to Top of ListNo one forgets how to ride a bike, but if you haven't ridden on real mountain singletrack, then the Practice Loop is a great spot to start. This loop is short and smooth with little elevation gain. It's the perfect ride for getting familiar with a new bike as well!

RTS Beginner Loop – Utah Olympic Park
Back to Top of ListRTS is a great beginner loop, and it's located adjacent to the Run-A-Muk dog park and right below the Utah Olympic Park, making for a unique setting. The flowy trail is very smooth and winds its way through a magnificent aspen grove. This loop is best to ride clockwise to maximize the descent and start and end on a mellow climb.

PorcUclimb to Downward Dog – Round Valley
Back to Top of ListThis beginner mountain bike loop is one of the best recent additions to the Round Valley area. Featuring a wide profile, it was also intended for adaptive mountain bikers and use by the National Ability Center. But the gentle grade and super smooth riding surface makes it a great loop to learn how to work on the "mechanics" of riding like shifting gears and proper braking.

Sparky's Beginner Loop - Clark's Ranch
Back to Top of ListThis loop is probably the most advanced beginner ride in our list. The climb has a few steep turns but the majority is smooth and follows a gentle grade all the way to the top. The descent is purpose-built with rollers and berms. We recommend this trail for riders who are comfortable riding their bikes and have been riding for at least a year.

Pale Green Dot Beginner to Intermediate Loop – Discovery Ridge
Back to Top of ListThis beginner ride features a directional descent with rollers and small jumps, berms, and some rock features that can be rolled over. This trail does include an intermediate climb that is a bit steeper and longer with quicker elevation gain. However, Pale Green Dot is a blast! The trail flows really well, letting you link up turn after turn and feature after feature in a fluid way that when combined with good form and handling, creates good habits that will cross over to more difficult trails. We recommend this ride to anyone who has had at least a few months of riding under their belt.
