Reflecting its historic mining roots during the day, Park City’s nightlife scene heats up after the sun goes down. As a visitor, it might be easy to miss some of the best bars on the scene since they’re located on the lower level of more eye-catching establishments—but you’d be missing out.

Each of these basement bars and lounges has its own unique ambience, so you’ll be sure to find a spot that suits your style—from the Western wine bar vibe of Old Town Cellars and the swanky feel of Fletcher’s Lounge, to the buzzing energy of live music acts at The Velvet Lounge, Premier, and The Downstairs.

A sophisticated wine bar with mountain-town roots, Old Town Cellars is a can’t miss stop on any oenophile’s trip to Park City. Recently reopened in fall 2023 after a devastating flood, Old Town Cellars features a hand crafted wooden bar, cozy seating areas, and a private room where guests can choose from wines blended in house from grapes sourced from California and Oregon. Pair your tasting flight with a cheese or chocolate plate, featuring local foods specifically chosen to complement the wines.

A hidden gem beneath a popular New American restaurant, Fletcher’s downstairs bar is an ideal pick for apres ski cocktails or late-night drinks. Whether you’re traveling with a group or a special someone, you’ll enjoy the sophisticated vibes in the subterranean space, featuring a roaring fireplace and ample seating areas. With seasoned staff members, hand crafted cocktails, and an extensive selection of wines and spirits, you can’t go wrong at Fletcher’s lounge.

The Velvet Room, a winter pop-up lounge beneath The Cabin on Park City’s Main Street, is redefining nightlife with an intimate, velvet-draped setting in contrast to the area’s bustling bars. Created by hospitality veteran Bryce Clarke, the lounge opened December 10 and will run through ski season, with plans for a permanent location if the concept proves successful.

The Nickel Bar at Firewood

Back to Top Back to Top of List

Located beneath the acclaimed Firewood restaurant, Nickel Bar earns its name from the striking nickel-plated bar countertop. There, order a handcrafted cocktail or a glass of wine from the extensive list, plus a bite to eat from the New American menu, consisting of foods cooked over (you guessed it) a wood fire located in a 14-foot-long wood stove. The warm, elegant space also features many industrial rustic relics, paying homage to the history of Park City’s mining era.

Premiere, a new 5,000-square-foot cocktail lounge and event venue blends historic mountain charm with modern flair. Featuring reclaimed wood interiors, giant disco balls, and a menu inspired by Mexican street food with Peruvian influences from Executive Chef Chicho Gonzalez, Premiere offers craft cocktails, small plates, and a vibrant atmosphere for live music and events. “Premiere isn’t just a venue; it’s a testament to the vibrancy of Park City’s cultural scene,” says manager Anthony Hebert, promising guests an experience where every night tells a story.

Ready to hit the dance floor? With an energetic ambience and live music, The Downstairs is the go-to spot for those seeking a fun night out in Park City. Nearly every night of the week, you’ll find live DJ sets or performances from both local and touring bands, drawing a lively and eclectic crowd. Located at the corner of Main Street and Heber Avenue, the spacious, subterranean location affords plenty of room for groups (and breaking out your best dance moves).
