Park City Mountain is a really big ski area. 42 lifts access 7300 acres, spanning from Historic Old Town almost to Kimball Junction. Linking these lifts are miles and miles of groomers, bowls, bump runs, glades, steeps, and terrain parks—a lot of something for everyone in the crew or family.
In 2015, the ski areas were officially owned by Vail Resorts and combined via the Quicksilver Gondola which stretches over Pinecone Ridge. This opened up a lot of opportunities, making it easier to access terrain from both base areas. So, what is one to do with all this incredible terrain? Ski it in a day of course.
To understand the full spectrum of Park City Mountain, we enlisted local pro, Alex Schlopy to ski "Coast to Coast," starting at Super Condor on the far north side all the way to McConkeys lift and a final run down to Historic Old Town! It took him nine lifts, over 18 miles of skiing, and right around three hours—plus a free bus ride back to Canyons Village.
This was spring skiing, and the the groomers were firm. But by about 10:30 a.m. they had softened up enough to really lay an edge and carve some turns. Full sun was in the forecast and Alex was able to carve and jib in the soft snow—making for some epic skiing! Days like these are some of the most fun of the season. Party laps and exploring your home mountain—all of this adds up to making incredible memories.
