Whether you’re loading the bikes or reserving your wheels, a summer weekend spent in Park City is not complete without trail time on gold-rated terrain. But with just three days to soak in all this mountain town has to offer, planning your approach can feel about as overwhelming as deciding where to eat and how to après (yes, we still do that in summer).

So, to make it easy, we’ve outlined three days of detailed itinerary filled with the best intermediate-level rides, power-fueled food, and yes, maybe even a leisurely activity or two. But don’t fret, if intermediate rides sound daunting or like a huge snooze, check out our post on Best Mountain Biking Trails for Every Skill Level and simply swap the rides below for your trails du jour.

Friday

12pm – Arrival/check-in.

12:30 pm - Quick lunch at Freshies for the best lobster in town, conveniently located next to your first ride. Find street parking or grab a spot in the parking lot next to White Pine Touring and walk the couple minutes to lunch.

The best part? Free air and post-ride hose downs at WPT while being close enough to a bike shop to grab any last-minute gear you left at home.

2:00-4:00pm – Rail Trail -> Freemason -> Lost Prospector -> Skid Row -> Rail Trail, ~6miles.

A primarily cross-country trail with minimal vertical gain. A great tune-up for both endurance and skill and a nice way to ease into the elevation. Skid Row offers your first taste of repetitive switchbacks and a great descent back onto the paved Rail Trail. Make sure to stop to soak in the views of Main Street and the entire Park City valley along the way. Dare we say they are Insta-worthy?

5:30 pm – It’s been a long day of travel and riding so dinner’s earlier than usual. Enjoy some post-ride grub at The Spur on Main Street, giving you the option to transition straight from dinner to drinks on their rooftop bar with nightly live music.

7:00 pm – The night is your oyster. If it’s a relaxing evening in your nearby rental you’re craving, the state liquor store is located directly behind The Spur on Sweeny Ave, or grab a little something sweet from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory

Saturday

8:00 am – Breakfast is early, allowing you to hit the trails before the heat of the day. The patio at the Bridge is beautiful and the breakfast is heaven. Fuel up before today’s climb.

9:15 am – Don’t forget water, snacks, sunscreen, and your camera.

9:30am – Armstrong -> Dawns Trail -> Spiro -> Armstrong

Armstrong is a steady climb, while Dawns allows you to duck out and find some rolling technical moments. Spiro is a ripping downhill full of switchbacks and soft dirt. Go at your own pace and enjoy the shade.

12:00 pm – Lunch on the patio at Silver Star Café, savor the flavor of both your meal and the charm of dining like a local.

2:00 pm – It’s time to relax and enjoy Park City. For one of the best spas in town (and a pool) take the 15 minutes’ drive from lunch to Spa Montage at the Montage Deer Valley. From steam rooms to saunas, to drinks and snacks by either the indoor or outdoor pool. There’s no better way to recover from today’s ride.

7:00 pm – Dinner tonight is luxurious. You’ve got the time, so why not enjoy a good meal? Handle, Chimayo or Riverhorse will give the opportunity to truly dine.

Sunday

8:30 am – Breakfast at Harvest, a popular health-conscious brunch spot. We recommend the soft scrambled eggs covered in greens with just a touch of pesto.

9:30 am – Unload at your final ride of the weekend, ready to grab some serious descent. Today you take the lift up so it’s all about the downhills. Grab a ticket at Park City Mountain Resort’s box office. A Bike Haul Day Pass is $37 and worth every penny when you’re short on time.

10:00 am – You’re riding the Crescent Lift with your bike on the chair in front of you. Keep an eye out for wildlife!

10:15- Mojave -> Mid-Mountain -> Mid-Mountain Connect -> Upper Jenni’s -> Upper Loose Moose -> Loose Moose -> CMG Downhill

This ride is a fun rip for more advanced riders and a decent flow for less experienced intermediate riders. Mojave is more technical while Jenni’s and Loose Moose offer more of a flowy descent. Enjoy diverse terrain through Aspens, Sage Brush, and Pine Trees.

12:30 pm – Load up, high-five your crew, and grab lunch on your way out of town. We love the burritos at Billy Blanco’s or the healthy fare at Vessel Kitchen.
