While Park City is no doubt a ski and snowboarding destination—there are plenty of things to do off the slopes. Whether you need a rest day or are just looking to switch it up, Park City has plenty going on beyond the chairlifts. From shopping to snowmobile rides and just about everything in between, there is always a way to have some extra fun and get a new perspective on our little mountain town!

Fat Biking

Back to Top of List

Work a different set of muscles while riding a fat bike on Park City’s trail system. Oversized tires allow you to glide atop the snow-covered trails with ease and let's you access terrain not otherwise accessible during winter months. Many of the Park City's outdoor outfitters offer bike rentals, and some even offer tours. No one forgets how to ride a bike. And fat bikes let you take on winter with a new perspective!

Tubing at Woodward

Back to Top of List

We've all gone sledding in the winter, it's a right of passage for any kid. But Woodward Park City takes it up a notch from your old neighborhood hill with a massive snow tubing park and extra conveniences like good food and drinks that puts nothing but smiles for the whole family. This classic family winter tradition is even easier thanks to upgrades including the addition of a new magic carpet and an increased number of lanes, letting you get in more laps! Tubing in Park City isn't just a kids activity either: older kids, college buddies on a ski trip, or even a bachelor party can get in on the fun!

Stroll Historic Main Street

Back to Top of List

Park City would not be Winter's Favorite Town without its charming Historic District, immediately surrounding beautiful Main Street. With a wide variety of entertainment and activities like shopping at one-of-a-kind boutiques or browsing the many art galleries, to brushing up on both your mining and ski history at the Park City Museum—you’ll get a real feel for the heart of Park City. Hungry?, grab lunch at one of the award-winning restaurants along Historic Main Street.

Utah Olympic Park

Cap off your day at the Park with a thrilling ride on the Comet Bobsled. You can't beat an afternoon immersing yourself in Olympic history!

Cross-country Skiing

Back to Top of List

Park City has over 70 km of groomed cross-country ski trails, so there really is something for everyone. For easy access, the trails right outside the White Pine Touring Nordic Center are a great option. You can rent your gear in the shop and there is a trail system right outside. There is a 3 km beginner track, a 5 km intermediate track, and the terrain connects to an additional 10 km of trails in the valley.

To use the trails at the Nordic Center, you’ll need to purchase a trail pass. Of course, Park City has a long legacy of protecting open space, and areas like Round Valley feature tens of kilometers of groomed Nordic track that are free and open to the public!

Fitness and Wellness

Back to Top of List

For those who want a break from the slopes, but want to keep active, Park City offers a variety of fitness centers with drop-in options. Swimming, tennis, spin classes, or time spent with a personal trainer are all great ways to exercise inside. Follow these up with time in a steam shower, or, if you’re in need of deep relaxation or recovery for sore legs, treat yourself to a day at the spa

Dog Sledding

Back to Top of List

Rest your legs and let the dogs do the work—dog sledding offers incredible mountain views in the areas surrounding Park City. Towns like Kamas and Oakley are in the same county as Park City and nestled into the foothills of the Uinta Mountains, another stunning range right out our backdoor! Dog sledding is a great winter activity for families to enjoy together, or for those looking for an escape—a romantic activity for two!

Kimball Art Center

Back to Top of List

Not only is Kimball Art Center’s main gallery (with rotating special exhibits) open daily and free of charge, they also offer numerous opportunities for classes and studio time. Offerings include art classes for young children like Winter Art Wonders for Tots and Gingerbread House Sculptures, and then for adults, drawing, painting, and Pottery classes. A bit of quiet time indulging in the arts is a great way to reset before you go back out on the hill!

Snowmobiling

Back to Top of List

If you're looking for grand views on outstanding mountain terrain, snowmobiling offers a unique opportunity to access terrain that you might only see from inside rope lines. Most snowmobile adventures are led by a guide for additional safety and easier route finding. But often times you are able to roam on your own. With crisp, cold air in your face, its a fun and exhilarating experience to meander through aspen meadows and use a motor pick up a bit of speed through wide open alpine valleys and basins. Best done in groups for added fun as well as safety, snowmobiling is one of those "bucket list" activities you won't regret checking off your list.

How Do You Choose

If you're here for a ski vacation then you're going to be skiing most days. If you're taking a day off in between unspoiled groomer and pow days, then you'll want to assess how tired you are. Activities like fat biking, Nordic skiing, and snowmobiling are high-output and get your heart rate up. But strolling Main Street, taking in art galleries and museums, or relaxing at the spa requires considerably less effort. Remember, a day in Park City starts and ends at 7000 feet. Be sure to assess how you're feeling before taking on a new adventure. But rest easy knowing there is something for everyone in our incredible mountain town!
