Overview
Overview-The Red Cloud trail is a lesser-traveled one-mile (out and back) hiking only trail at Deer Valley Resort that is accessed via the Mid Mountain Trail. The route is a steady climb winding through aspen and pine forests and traversing across some of Deer Valley’s ski runs. The trail ends at the top of Flagstaff Mountain, where the Quincy, Northside, Silver Strike and Ruby chairlifts converge. What to Expect – From the parking area head east on the Ontario Bypass trail. Follow the singletrack for 2 switchbacks and at .2-mile head left at the intersection with a dirt road. From here follow the trail sign for Ontario Bypass which leads you across Marsac Ave where you will pick up the trail just up the road. At the next intersection head right on the dirt road for 200 yards and then left on the singletrack. At .8 you will reach the Mid Mountain trail where you will take a right. Follow Mid Mountain for .2-mile until you see the Red Cloud trail sign on your left. From here the route is hiking only and traverses across ski runs and winds in and out thick aspen and pine forests. At 1.8-mile the route connects with a dirt road and intersects with a couple other trails, continue straight for about 200 yards where the trail continues to the right side. The trail ends after passing under the Quincy Express chairlift at the top of Flagstaff Mountain.
