If you’re traveling to Park City with teens, prepare to have an absolute blast. There are so many exciting adventures that they’ll love, that you could easily be busy exploring until well after dark every day.

Here are our favorite adventures to do with teens in Park City.

Woodward Park City

My teenage son has declared this the absolute best place to visit in all of Park City. Woodward Park City is an action sports complex that’s designed to offer action sports classes and camps to kids, so it’s absolutely perfect for teens. With instruction for everything from parkour and tumbling to skateboarding and mountain biking, there’s a class for every active teen here. If you’re in town for just a little while, sign up for one of their group lessons (a steal starting at only $20/lesson), but if you’re sticking around for longer, their weeklong summer camps have some fantastic offerings.

Utah Olympic Park

The Utah Olympic Park is a must-visit stop in Pack City. The free Olympic and ski museums are both really well done (your teens will have a good laugh at some of the ski styles from eras past), but the true highlight is outside.

Extreme Adventure Gold Pass Session

If you’re looking for the best bang for your buck, make sure to sign up for a gold pass session at the Olympic Park. This gives you access to the zipline, ropes courses, extreme sledding, airbag jumps, and the alpine slide. Each session is for 3.5 hours, so make sure to get there on time to maximize your adventures.

Summer Bobsled Experience

Do you have a teen who’s got a serious need for speed?  Check out the summer bobsled course. In the summer, bobsleds are modified with wheels to speed down the track for athletes to be able to train on the bobsled year-round. During the summer bobsled experience, your teens will join a professional driver for the ride of a lifetime. In less than a minute, they’ll be racing down the summer bobsled track at speeds up to 60mph as they twist and turn through the bobsled course. Participants must be 16 or older and be in good health.

Park City Mountain Resort

Park City Mountain is the best place for extreme adventure if you’re based out of downtown Park City. The activities are easy to access and there are great options for the entire family. Here are some of our favorite activities there that are geared toward teens.

Mountain Coaster

Does your teen love the speed and thrill of roller coasters?  They’ll absolutely LOVE the mountain coaster. It’s a fast-paced coaster through the forest that will have them racing through the trees at top speed. The mountain coaster is a must-do for adrenaline junkies in Park City.

Alpine Slide

The alpine slide at Park City Mountain is one of the longest alpine slides in the world. The ride twists and turns along the mountainside and teens will love having their own sled to control their speed. This is the perfect activity if you have competitive teens who love to race (there are two tracks next to each other), or if you want an activity the whole family can participate in.

Mountain Biking

For teens who want to try out mountain biking, Park City is the perfect place to get introduced to the sport. With hundreds of miles of trails, there is a little bit of something for everyone. If your teen already is comfortable with the sport of mountain biking, download the Trailforks app and find rides that are suitable for their ability and ride experience. Below are some great options for introducing teens to the sport of mountain biking.

Lift Access Mountain Biking

For teens who like to mountain bike, but don’t like the work of climbing up the hill, take advantage of the lift assist mountain biking at Park City Mountain. From the base area, the chairlift will take both you and your bike up the hill so that you can enjoy all the thrills and fun of mountain biking, without the leg-burning effort. This is great for kids who already have some mountain bike experience and are comfortable on intermediate bike trails.

Trailside Park

This is our go-to stop when we have friends who want a taste of mountain biking without a major commitment. Trailside has several small training loops, of various difficulty to introduce riders to the sport of mountain biking, without committing to a long ride. For absolute beginners, start at the pump track, progress to the green trails, and if you’re feeling brave head over to a blue trail.

Round Valley

Round Valley has some of the best biking for beginner and intermediate riders in Park City. This is a great place to take teens mountain biking as many of the trails use the dirt road to climb close to the top, and then introduce them to singletrack mountain bike trails for the ride down. Note: There is no shade at Round Valley, so morning and evening are the best times to ride here.

White Pine Touring Guided Mountain Bike Tours

For professional mountain bike instruction in Park City, head to White Pine Touring. Their mountain bike guides can take you and your teen on some great local rides, all while giving you some tips on how to improve your technique and how to ride more technical sections of trails. This is a great option if you want to increase your skills, or if you have no idea how to even start mountain biking.

Whitewater Rafting or Tubing the Weber River

On a hot day in Park City, nothing feels better than a dip in some cool mountain water. We absolutely love spending time on the river with our kids, and rafting and tubing are our go-to activities for hot summer days.

While the Weber River doesn’t have any huge or extreme rapids, a rafting trip here will give you a bit of a thrill, while getting you splashed enough to cool down. River flows are the highest in June (meaning better rapids and faster water), though the river can be floated with a guide all summer. All Season Adventures offers guided rafting trips, and if you’re feeling like you want more adventure, renting an inflatable kayak is ridiculously fun for teens.

For a value option that will get you completely soaked, rent a tube and head down the Weber River. Barefoot Tubing provides tube rentals, mandatory life jackets, and a round trip shuttle for only $25 per person. Wear clothes that are designed to get wet and dry quickly, secure river sandals, and lots of sunscreen.

Jet Skiing and SUP Boarding At Rockport State Park

If your family is looking to escape the Park City crowds on your trip, head over to Rockport State Park only 25 minutes away. Here, you can spend your day on the lake without the typical crowds that you’ll find at Jordanelle. The absolute best things to do with teens here is to rent some boats and get out on the lake.
