Top Outdoor Spring Group Activities

From mild to wild, Park City is an idyllic outdoor playground with group activities.

Hiking & Biking

Park City is a mecca for hiking and biking with hundreds of miles of trails in and around the charming mountain town. Great for team building and having an outdoor adventure, groups can take a guided tour on hundreds of miles of picturesque trails and alpine terrain.

Come late April-May, mountain biking also becomes more of an option for the adrenaline junkies of the group. Another fun and less strenuous way to see the city is with electric bikes rentals.

Fly Fishing

As the last bit of winter’s snow melts, you’ll find some of the most beautiful and pristine rivers in the Wasatch Range. That’s when fly fishing season is in full swing in Park City. Groups can enjoy this unique outdoor experience (rain or shine!) among the mountains and crisp, fresh air.

Horseback Riding

Saddle up your group for a horseback riding experience unlike any other in Park City. Fresh, springtime temperatures mean your gallivanting group will get a waft of cool mountain air from atop your horse - providing a great view of meadows and mountain peaks.

Park City and the surrounding area are home to fifteen golf courses for groups to choose from, providing an ideal off-site outing option to have some friendly competition on the green amidst a springtime mountain setting.

Utah Olympic Park

Treat your group to a spring day at Utah Olympic Park (UOP). Imagined and built for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, UOP features adrenaline-oriented experiences like challenging ropes courses, zip-lining adventures, tubing and more.

Rafting & Water Sports

Park City has many beautiful lakes and rivers, making it a perfect destination for water sports and river rafting. More toward the latter half of the springtime, groups can rush down the rapids on an inflatable raft, integrate wellness with paddleboard yoga, or plunge into the river with a tube.

Team-Building Opportunities in the Springtime

Park City has many local businesses and partners for planners to work with and plan unique, fun and productive team building opportunities. From the unique GPS adventure races to custom team building options, we’ve listed below some of the experiences your group can have while meeting in Park City.

GPS Adventure Race

The premier outdoor guide service, All Seasons Adventures, offers one of Park City’s most popular and unique team building activities, the GPS adventure race. Teams of 6-12 people use a basic GPS unit and a score sheet listing potential points to direct them to waypoints scattered around Old Town Park City for the historic race or the resort areas/private ranches for the mountain race.

At each waypoint, a guide will present a challenge for the team to complete in an effort to gain as many points as possible. The historic race is done on foot and in vans and is accessible to a wide range of groups whereas the mountain race is more for fit groups capable of overland travel for up to 3 hours.

Catapult Building Competition

A little friendly competition is the ultimate team building activity that takes place on a scenic outdoor deck, but also works really well as an indoor option. Groups will be divided up into teams and are tasked with building catapults and have two options depending on the package purchased. Groups will either attack an opposing team's tower so attendees will have to build a tower and fortify it or teams will shoot bean bags at a large bullseye in the middle of the room trying to get the highest score.

Anyone can partake! It can be an icebreaker, a cocktail-hour type of activity or it can be in between meetings in the afternoon. This option is just very customizable and allows groups to be in and out quickly and can get refreshed to be productive the rest of the day and time meeting in Park City.

A Package Deal Worth Planning

Many of Park City’s guided service companies offer activity packages for groups that accommodate the mild and the wild. Planners can even combine certain activities such as All Seasons Adventures’ Cast & Blast, an experience where groups can go trapshooting in the morning and spend a couple of hours at the range, then have lunch and then go fly fishing in the afternoon.

Working With Meetings Planners’ Flexibility

Many of Park City’s local companies that provide guided tours and services can accommodate your group’s needs and make sure planners stay up to date with what’s going on in the destination.

If your goal is to have your meeting group work together or cut loose in between sessions, Park City has the expertise to help build a company outing perfectly suited for you.
