The 2002 Winter Olympic Games helped establish Park City, UT and the surrounding world-class ski resorts as a leading destination for athletes. And with the Sundance Film Festival taking residence in Park City, this boutique mountain town has also made a name for itself in the arts and film industry. The growth from these events and the discovery of the year round tourism offerings has propelled this once undiscovered gem into a thriving luxury destination.

But Park City is only just beginning... New land developments are underway to meet the demand for more resort and hotel spaces; convention halls and meeting rooms are under construction to accommodate business, medical, educational, and association groups that want to elevate their next event. And meeting planners worldwide are taking notice of the growth and development happening around this incredible destination.

Recently, Vail Resorts has linked two of North America's greatest ski areas, Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort - creating the largest resort in the United States with 7,300 acres of skiable terrain (now simply referred to as "Park City"). And for ease of access the new Quicksilver Gondola which opened on December 17, 2015 connects the two areas.

Deer Valley Resort has also seen new growth. Originally opening in 1981, Deer Valley has become known for revolutionizing ski area service. It has since grown to a resort that holds several nationally recognized accolades in SKI Magazine.

These two Park City area resorts have attracted the development of smaller luxury properties like Blue Sky Ranch, which also has major development plans in the near future.

Here are a few exciting developments available now or are planned to begin in 2017:

Deer Valley Resort

In 2017, Deer Valley Resort will embark on its highly anticipated expansion plans. It is set to expand its outdoor terrain by an extra 1,000 acres with plans for new lodging facilities and dining areas, and the installation of five or six new ski lifts.

The resort currently offers more than 45,000 square feet of full-service conference facilities, year-round mountain activities, award-winning catering and complete conference services for groups of 20 to 2,000. Deer Valley features lift-served mountain biking, guided hiking tours and scenic chairlift rides along with bike lessons and a line of full-suspension mountain bike rentals.

Groups love the shopping and five-star dining at Deer Valley so needless to say these upcoming developments are highly anticipated by meeting planners that know what Park City and Deer Valley have to offer!
