Gallery MAR will open a new exhibition on Friday June 30th at 6:00 pm, featuring works by two of our most celebrated artists: Matt Flint and Shawna Moore. The show will hang for three weeks. Meet the artists at the reception and enjoy live music and eats from Savoury Kitchen.

Shawna Moore is an artist we have represented for over a decade. One of our two encaustic artists, Moore has collectors all over the world. The encaustic process begins by melting beeswax and mixing it with resin and raw pigments. She works in many layers (up to 100) and adds the hot wax with smooth bamboo brushes, torching each layer to create a smooth and clean surface. Her pieces are unique, vibrant, and moving -- like water.

Matt Flint is an artist who quickly found his passion for painting upon entering graduate school. Even after two decades, Flint is still transforming and experimenting with his palate, medium, and subjects. During his youth, and still today, Flint seeks out the solitude of untamed places and the wildlife that inhabits them. The rich textures and worked surfaces of his paintings evoke the constant changes and processes found in the natural world.
