It is difficult to believe that it's already February - where has the time gone? Hopefully, your New Year's resolutions are now routine and you're feeling more at ease with it being 2019. Lucky for us, there is still plenty of winter left to enjoy and there are so many ways to experience Park City, Utah. While the activities and events happening in February are seemingly endless, we have a few ideas for you to consider:
Attend the 2019 FIS Snowboard and Freeski World Championships.
On Saturday, February 2nd, don’t miss the Opening Ceremonies and Entertainment. Celebrations start at 6:00 PM with the Free Ski Big Air Final at Canyons Village. Make sure to check the schedule to see when events are scheduled at both Deer Valley and Park City Resort.
ATTEND A LIVE PERFORMANCE OR LECTURE AT ECCLES CENTER
Park City Institute's February lineup includes the It Gets Better Project, and Natalie MacMaster, Park City Institute is celebrating its 21st season at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center for the Performing Arts. SING ALONG WITH A SHOW AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE
With the new month comes a myriad of shows at the Egyptian Theatre. Starting on February 7th-9th, Bruce Cockburn will take the stage. Followed by Mary Wilson of the Supremes February 14th-17th. Then on February 21st-24th enjoy “An Acoustic Evening with Shawn Colvin”.
TRY NORDIC SKIING
Looking for a workout and way to explore Park City off the slopes? Give Nordic skiing a try! Not only is it a great way to work up a sweat, but it's also a fun way to take in the area's beautiful mountain scenery. Head to White Pine Touring at the Park City Municipal Golf Course for more mellow terrain with gradual hills, or to Round Valley for expansive views and access to free trails. Basin Recreation grooms 25 kilometers of free trails that meander through Willow Creek Park and the Utah Olympic Park area. Prefer to get out of town and into the woods? Schedule a guided ski tour or try the Beaver Creek Ski Trail in the Uinta Mountains, which is just past Kamas on Mirror Lake Highway.
TAKE A SNOWSHOE TOUR OF SWANER PRESERVE AND ECOCENTER
Take a snowshoe tour at the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter and learn about the preserve's history, and the types of plants and animals you may spot during the winter months in Park City. Search for animal tracks and explore the beautiful open space with stunning mountain views. Snowshoe tours are suitable for all ages and snowshoes may be rented from the EcoCenter.
Experience a night with Park City Food Tours
The Park City Food Tour is a progressive dinner and guided walking tour throughout old town Park City, stopping at one of a kind restaurants, monuments, and historic buildings. In February food tours will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting between 3 - 4 PM. Read about the experience.
ATTEND A PARK CITY FILM SERIES SCREENING
Known for hosting the Sundance Film Festival, Park City, Utah supports the film scene year-round. Park City Film, a local non-profit organization, is an avid promoter of independent feature, documentary, world and local cinema. The Park City Film Series offers weekly screenings representing a wide range of genres, and some screenings are even free to the public.
ENJOY VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER AT A PARK CITY RESTAURANT
What's more romantic than Valentine's Day spent in the mountains? A day on the slopes and some time at the spa before dinner out on the town - you can't beat it! There are many Park City area restaurants offering Valentine's Day specials. Choose between three or four-course prix fixe menus or, if you prefer, snag a reservation at your favorite Park City restaurant. After all, they say the way to someone's heart is through their stomach.
GO ICE SKATING
A fun activity for the whole family, ice skating is the perfect way to wind down from a day on the slopes. Skate outside under a string of lights at the Resort Center Ice Skating Rink, which is located at the Park City Base Area, open 11:00 AM-7:00 PM daily, and offers skate rentals. Or, head indoors to the Park City Ice Arena, located in Quinn's Junction, where public skate hours are plentiful and vary throughout the week. Park City Ice Arena offers skate rentals and lessons as well.
