Summertime in Park City provides an underrated time to visit, especially when you’re visiting as a family. In fact, if you ask the locals, many will tell you that summer is the best-kept secret in our town. With fly fishing, mountain biking, ziplines, golf, hiking and countless other activities to choose from, warm-weather visitors — of any age — will have an array of options to stay active and happy.
Where to Stay:
At Hotel Park City, you’ll find comfortable, spacious suites featuring lush views and cozy, in-room fireplaces, along with easy access to the Park City Golf Club and miles of mountain trails. Guests can also take advantage of the hotel’s tranquil spa and two restaurant options: Ruth Chris Steakhouse and Bandannas, a more casual grill.
Plan your Day:
Ever dreamed of making your debut as an Olympic athlete? While we can’t guarantee a gold medal, spending a day at Park City’s Utah Olympic Park might be the next best thing.
Built for the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games, the nearly 400-acre park contains a number of outdoor adventures for all ages. You won’t want to miss the Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Show, where U.S. National Team and Olympic skiers and snowboards flip, fly and soar in the air before landing in the facility’s freestyle pool. While the choreographed show takes place only on select summer weekends, you can typically catch athletes practicing their jumps most days of the week.
Other can’t-miss activities at the Utah Olympic Park include a challenging yet family-friendly ropes course and a zipline where you can fly at 40 mph above the park. Ready for more action? Try Extreme Tubing, where you’ll slide down the landing hill of a Nordic ski jump in an inner tube, gaining speeds up to 50 mph.
When you’ve had your fill of thrills, wind down with a leisurely hike along the more than 400 miles of trails that Park City has to offer. Many of the trails within Park City Mountain Resort are perfect for all levels with spectacular views along the way, whether you start from the base of the resort or take a chairlift up to access the higher trails. (Need inspiration? Here are five Park City hikes with the best nature views.)
End your hike at the Bridge Café and Grill, located right next to Town Lift and offering great views of both the surrounding mountains as well as the action on Main Street. The restaurant serves up a delicious menu with Brazilian influences, including burgers, tacos, chicken dishes, and even all-day breakfast, ensuring that everyone in your group will find something they enjoy.
After your meal, top it off with some sweet treats. Stop by Java Cow Park City for a great selection of ice cream flavors to enjoy as you take in the sights along Main Street.
Finally, cool down after all your activities with a well-deserved dip in the pool. A perfect place for kids to enjoy themselves (and an excellent spot for an adult happy hour), Hotel Park City’s heated outdoor pool features several hot tubs, plus stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
*Note: We know this day is jam-packed! While it may not be totally realistic to fit all of these activities into 24 hours, we simply wanted to give a sampling of what our mountain town has to offer. Pack it all in, or spread it out — we want you to make your visit your own!
