It's going to be a white Christmas in Park City, Utah's most famous mountain town and ski resort area. The first major snowstorm of the season just dumped nearly 18" of the fluffy white stuff on our mountain town. But there's more to Park City at Christmas time than sliding down our world-class slopes. Park City hosts a series of popular holiday musical events, strolling elves, holiday carols on Main Street and shopping our unique stores and galleries.
One of my favorite holiday events is welcoming Santa Claus into Park City as he and his reindeer descend the Town Lift from the top of the mountain. On December 14, the Town Lift Plaza will be packed with bright-eyed children enjoying hot cocoa and snacks as they wait for Santa to arrive with his reindeer and sled full of goodies.
Here's another use for that Santa costume. Be one of the first 50 guests to dress up as Santa at Canyons and ski free on December 21.
On December 24, Santa Claus will ski around the mountain during the day and once the sun sets he will lead more than 100 ski and snowboard instructors down the PayDay run during Park City Mountain Resort's 50th annual traditional torchlight parade. And best of all, the parade can be viewed from the Resort Plaza with complimentary hot beverages and cookies. But be sure to save a few cookies for Santa.
Main Street in Historic Park City will be celebrating the festive holiday season throughout the month of December. Shop for treasures or dine on festive menus throughout Park City; the challenge isn't deciding when to eat, it's deciding where. You'll even find a surprisingly great selection of gluten-free dining options; or how about a five-course authentic Norwegian dinner on the mountain in a Viking yurt.
Be sure to make reservations during the holiday season.and best of all, parking is free on Main Street through December 20.
Do you have last minute shopping for the holidays? Take time to explore more than 100 unique shops and boutiques, art galleries and specialty stores that line the charming streets of Historic Main Street.
It's not too late to book a trip to Park City for the holidays. Check out the early season deals including lodging and ski packages that make it more affordable than ever to plan a winter vacation Park City.
