The Park City First Timers series was such a blast this summer that we had no choice but to bring it back. This time, we’re highlighting six unique winter adventures in Park City, Utah.

In our first winter episode, our host, Makena, gives fat tire biking a try. She starts by meeting with our friends at Storm Cycles to get the lowdown on fat tire bikes, how they differ from standard mountain bikes, and how they handle in the snow.

Fat tire biking is one of many fun, winter activities in Park City, and not only does it allow riders to take advantage of the area’s winter trail system, it extends the biking season throughout the entire year. The bikes are almost like mixing a mountain bike with a monster truck, with the oversized tires allowing the rider to cruise across packed-down snowy trails. It’s the perfect activity for someone who’s looking for a great adventure and a great workout.

After chatting with the Storm Cycles crew and getting set up with a fat tire bike, Makena made her way to Willow Creek Park, in Park City’s Snyderville Basin, to take advantage of its groomed trails. She also met up with Greg, her first-timer partner for the episode, and the two of them set out to discover just how exhilarating fat tire biking truly is. Adrenaline rushes, fresh air, and beautiful scenery ensued.
