I’ve always been enamored with exploring the chocolate scene of whichever far off destination I’ve traveled to. Whether it’s discovering the Oaxacan spiced hot chocolate in Mexico, walking along the Sydney Harbour with a brownie in hand, or going on a dark chocolate tour in Brussels, traveling and chocolate have always gone hand in hand for me.

But something I’ve uncovered is that I don’t actually have to leave home to sample some of the best chocolate, as Park City is an absolute gem for chocolate in all forms and varieties.

If you’re a chocolate lover, mark these recommendations down as must-visit places to get your chocolate fix. And if you’re feeling adventurous, visiting them all in one day is a possibility — and potentially — the happiest day of your life.

Deer Valley Grocery Café

What To Get: Chocolate Brownie

Description: If you like your brownies rich, then you found the Jeff Bezos of the brownie world. Straddling the boundary between fudge and brownie, this Deer Valley Resort delight is my go-to for après chocolate because it’s always fresh and I usually finish most of it before I even reach my table to sit down.

Local tip: Combine this decadent brownie with a Deer Valley Resort's Haute Chocolate drink that’s served with cinnamon for a spicier take on the typical hot chocolate.

Don’t Miss: There are few things in life more peaceful than sitting lakeside on their outdoor deck and enjoying your chocolate treat.

Windy Ridge Bakery

What To Get: Chocolate Croissant

Description: What a lot of bakeries get wrong with chocolate croissants is they skimp on the chocolate inside. Not Windy Ridge Bakery. Expect a generous serving of super-rich, soft, and sweet chocolate inside one of the flakiest and buttery croissants in town.

Local Tip: Get there early — avoid when they are closed on Sundays and Mondays — because these delicious croissants go fast. If you’re out of luck on the croissants, don’t worry because the cream cheese chocolate brownie is a wonderful alternative.

Don’t Miss: The bakery is responsible for creating the decadent desserts for each of the Bill White Restaurant Groups’ portfolio of establishments in town. And while in-store dining is not available, there are a couple of tables and chairs in front of the entrance to sample the top bakery in town, per Park City’s Best annual awards.

Atticus

What To Get: Red Velvet Mocha

Description: If you’re walking down Historic Main Street there’s nothing more satisfying than getting the Red Velvet Mocha from Atticus. Creamy red velvet chocolate inside this espresso-infused delight makes this the perfect delicious treat or pick-me-up after a long day of skiing.

Local Tip: The warm and inviting red couch by the front window of Atticus is not only the most prized real estate on the street for relaxing but also a prime people-watching spot as visitors from all over the world flow in to enjoy this well-known coffee and tea house.

Don’t Miss: Named after Atticus Finch of Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, take some time browsing the wide-ranging collection of used and new books. Along with the amazing chocolate drinks that Atticus serves, they’re also known for the eclectic decorations and hip gifts that make this one of the more memorable coffee houses.

Ritual Chocolate

What To Get: The Nib Chocolate Bar

Description: Sustainable practices are at the core of the Ritual Chocolate mission, creating their bean-to-bar locally produced products. One of the ways they practice this is by collecting the remaining cacao nibs from their chocolate-making process to create The Nib Bar, a chocolate bar that provides a crunchy combination of lightly roasted cocoa nibs and their signature 70% Mid Mountain Blend.

Local Tip: Located right off the Historic Rail Trail, feel free to bike or walk to the shop and enjoy indoor or outdoor seating. This is a great place to set up your laptop or read a book next to a cup of rich drinking chocolate and a chocolate bar while also connecting with fellow local and visiting chocolate fans.

Don’t Miss: If you’re looking for a gift for a loved one or a souvenir, the wide variety of locally-produced chocolate bars, mixing chocolate, or clothes are always a great idea.

Java Cow

What To Get: Chocolate Monster Ice Cream

Description: If you’re getting ice cream, then there’s no better place in Park City than going to a place that hand-makes their own on-site. And for that, I recommend you try Java Cow’s spectacular Chocolate Monster ice cream. Expect creamy chocolate ice cream combined with Heath bar, chocolate chunks, and a caramel swirl to leave you in a chocolate state of bliss.

Local Tip: For vegans that don’t want to miss out on the fun, Java Cow offers a coconut-based vegan ice cream option as well.

Don’t Miss: Famous UK graffiti artist, Banksy, left a series of graffiti pieces in Park City during the premiere of his film at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Check out the artwork on the sidewall of Java Cow while you enjoy your ice cream and admire one of the most photographed attractions in town.
