It’s hard to believe that 2017 is drawing to an end. As with every New Year, it’s always fun to make a list of resolutions or of new things you want to try. Maybe the list includes items that are outside your comfort zone, or something you’ve never even thought to try. We put together a Park City-oriented list for you to consider as you think about what you want your 2018 to include!

TAKE A SKI OR SNOWBOARD LESSON

Maybe you have always wanted to learn how to carve, or you want to feel more comfortable off-piste and on steeper terrain – even the best of skiers and riders can brush up on their skills from time-to-time. Sign up for a ski or snowboard lesson at Park City Mountain or Deer Valley Resort, or give Park City Mountain’s “Adult Ski College” a try. Adult Ski College is a five-day program geared towards adults who are looking to brush up on their skills and reach their full potential.  Park City Mountain also offers “never ever” snowboard lessons, and ski and snowboard lessons geared specifically towards women. Deer Valley Resort offers a variety of ski school opportunities as well, including small group lessons (Max 4), specialty clinics, and private lessons.

SKI WITH A CHAMPION AT DEER VALLEY RESORT

What’s more inspiring than cruising around Deer Valley Resort with an Olympic skier? Deer Valley Resort’s Ski with a Champion Program provides individuals, families, or groups the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive full or half-day ski experience alongside some of the greatest skiers in U.S. history. Athletes include Olympic medalist Shannon Bahrke, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall-of-Famer, Kris “Fuzz” Feddersen,” and Chris Waddel, the winningest male in Paralympic ski history.  To learn about the program and explore other athletes, visit Deer Valley’s website.

TRY A NEW RESTAURANT

Park City’s restaurant scene is always evolving, with new additions being added annually. Why not stray from your regular choice and try something new? The most recent restaurant to come onto the scene is Altitude Restaurant & Bar, a barbeque joint located at 440 Main Street, which was formerly Bandits. Open for lunch and dinner, Altitude’s menu features Texas-inspired comfort food served in an atmosphere that exudes mountain town chic.

TAKE A WORKOUT CLASS

The New Year is the perfect time to hone in on your exercise routine, right? There is a plethora of workout options in the Park City area, including both popular, branded options, as well as unique classes designed to creating a sense of community. Join a Barre class at Pure Barre for a full body workout that utilizes a ballet barre. Or drop by the Beau Collective, which blends fitness, social gathering, and community. Love spin class? Head to the Boom Cycle Room, a boutique style spin studio that’s high energy, positive, and fun.

GO CAT SKIING WITH PARK CITY POWDER CATS

Is cat skiing on your bucket list? 2018 is your year to ski untracked powder in backcountry terrain with Park City Powder Cats at Thousand Peaks Ranch. With steep, ungroomed terrain, Park City Powder Cats requires guests to be, at least, advanced-intermediate skiers. Experienced, certified guides, prepared meals, and repeat runs on untouched snow make a day at Thousand Peaks Ranch an experience of a lifetime. “Steep Lines. Big Bowls. Untracked Powder.” – you know you want to! For more details, rates, and what to expect, check out the Park City Powder Cats website.

TAKE A HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE

Maybe you’ve been to Park City before, or even know the ins and outs of the area. But have you ever checked out the area's beauty from 10,500 feet up in the air? Coasting through the air by hot air balloon is calming and tranquil, and offers a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape. It’s an experience unlike any other.

LEARN MORE ABOUT PARK CITY’S HISTORY

While being more physically active is always a practical New Year’s resolution, exercising your brain is also important! Increase your knowledge of your favorite mining-turned-ski-town by touring the Park City Museum on Historic Main Street, visiting the Alf Engen Ski Museum at Utah Olympic Park, or by joining the Fox School of Wine for their new, unique, and very fun Mines & Wines program (because what goes better together than wine and history?).

TRY A NEW ACTIVITY

Park City, Utah is a mecca for all types of physical activities. Ring in the new year by trying a new activity for the first time. Take in the scenery by snow bike, or test your stamina while Nordic skiing. Take a standup paddleboard yoga class in a geothermic crater, or find inspiration from our First Timers video series.  There are so many active ways to explore the Park City area!

TAKE A COOKING CLASS

Have you always wanted to brush up on your cooking skills, but haven’t been able to find the time? Make the time with Chef Linda of Mindful Cuisine. She’ll guide you through the steps of creating a restaurant-quality meal in a relaxed and fun setting, where you’ll enjoy the company of others, sip on wine, and learn some new skills in the kitchen.

TREAT YOURSELF TO A UNIQUE SPA TREATMENT

Self-care has always been important, but is valued (and on trend) now more than ever. What better way to take care of yourself than by experiencing a day of relaxation and indulging in one of the Park City area’s unique spa treatments. From the Vichy shower at the Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge to an herbal soak in Spa Montage’s copper tubs, the area’s spa offerings are refined and luxurious and will leave you feeling like a new person in 2018.
