There are few things more American than loading up your car with your favorite people, creating a playlist of great tunes, grabbing snacks, and hitting the open road. The possibilities seem endless until you realize that you have to narrow down a destination. If you're looking for a road trip destination with lots of outdoor recreation, lots of fantastic dining options, excellent lodging variety, great weather, and plenty of charm, you'll want to visit Park City! Luckily Park City, Utah is within a day's drive of most western US cities, so it is the perfect place to escape on vacation.

Over the years Park City’s single-track has become the resident star of summer, thrilling hikers and mountain bikers through successive switchbacks, challenging terrain, and groves of glittering Aspens. But for those who are looking for a way to take in our town’s extensive network of connected trails without padded gloves, shorts, or specialized shoes, the paved pathway system, either on foot or with the help of Summit Bike Share’s extensive fleet of electric bikes, has been upgraded to guide locals and visitors from Kimball Junction to Deer Valley, and everywhere in between. 

National Ability Center

Park City, Utah, is known for being home to two major ski resorts, and an action sports hub catering to everyone from first-timers to Olympic athletes. But for many, including veterans and those with disabilities, a fourth organization sits just minutes away, the National Ability Center, sprawling across 26 acres of modified lodging and recreation that services the same range of skills, but in unique and “adaptive” ways. 

Woodward Park City, the Safest Place to Learn Action Sports

For almost 50 years, Woodward has been making action sports accessible to kids and families across the country and beyond, with a sister location at the Hard Rock Hotel on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. But the 2019 expansion has now enabled Woodward to call Park City, Utah, their newest home, and in doing so, they have already welcomed thousands of visitors seeking a piece of the adrenaline rush at 7,000 feet.

It’s that time of year here in Park City where, as the temps start to drop, and these first snows begin to dust our mountain landscape, the stoke becomes extremely high for ski and snowboard season. As a mountain town local I’ve started my ski conditioning regimen so that I can be strong and confident on the slopes this year.
