Although he grew up along the verdant Ohio River, Cincinnati-born Zach Wood’s childhood dreams were of distant majestic peaks and lots of snow. “I’ve always been drawn to the mountains,” says the owner of Ski Valet. “And my love for skiing always brought me back to ski shops.”

Heading west, Zach attended the University of Denver, landed in North Lake Tahoe, and then to Colorado again. “Eventually I found  Park City, and I knew it was a place for me,” he says with a laugh. “The community is strong, there is a supportive business environment, and the skiing is some of the best in North America.”

The next dream Zach made a reality happened four years ago – taking ownership at Ski Valet. ”I always wanted my own shop,” he enthuses. He credits his subsequent success to “amazing long-term employees,” hard-working seasonal staff, top brands, and the latest gear. “It feels great to say you love what you do every day.”

Often out there himself, Zach delivers and custom fits rental gear wherever customers are, from hotel rooms to the lifts. He’s ready with restaurant tips and vacation rental ideas, too (see what Zach recommends at “I also love passing along my love of skiing,” he smiles. “I enjoy fitting kids in their gear and getting them excited for their day on the mountain.”

Zach’s spirit and energy are a classic Park City match. “Everyone is passionate about protecting our natural beauty here, and everyone has a dog, including me,” he laughs. “Arlo spends a lot of time in the shop, making sure we tune skis correctly.”

During the offseason Zach and family enjoy travel and “trying to surf,” he smiles. “But we spend a lot of time making Ski Valet better.”
