Park City Summit County Arts CouncilIt took sojourns in New York City, Australia, and one previous stint in Park City for Jocelyn Scudder to recognize her calling as the mountains and the nonprofit art world. The Director of Arts Council Park City & Summit County returned for good in 2013, joining the Arts Council four years later. "I was craving to embrace the mountain lifestyle again," she says.

The Arts Council supports local artists, keeping art front and center in PC and the county. Jocelyn says she and the mission are a good match. "I found my niche at a New York nonprofit called the Lower East Side Printshop," she recalls. "They offered studio space and exhibit opportunities - work that I believed in. I knew I wanted to find a way to stay with it."

With programs like the Summer and Winter Arts Showcases and the 'Art on the Trails' tour, Jocelyn loves advocating for "the power of art and the impact of each artist's voice." She believes our cultural vibrancy "sets us apart from other mountain towns," crediting her Board and staff for the Art Council's vision and direction.

Park City's embrace of diversity, art and nature are "unlike any other place on Earth," she says. "We love and respect our surroundings, we are inclusive and equitable, we prioritize local businesses, and we love dogs!" she laughs. "I have yet to get one, so my 'Parkite package' is not complete."

Jocelyn firmly believes our thriving arts scene is essential to Park City's identity. "We must prioritize it and help it thrive," she says.
