Soft drink insiders know what Chris McCombs means when he says, “I was a Pepsi kid.” The cola giant moved his family from the East Coast to the Midwest and back again – once as far afield as Manila. “I ended up in Sedalia, Missouri for high school and from there to the U of M in Columbia, studying accounting,” recalls the owner of CFO-4U in Park City.

Earning a CPA and Big 8 experience working for KPMG, “I eventually decided ski town living was what I enjoyed, so 20 years ago I left Kansas City and headed for Steamboat.”

When his spouse landed work as a Gifted Ed teacher at Parley’s Park Elementary three years ago, Chris found the move “like moving to a slightly bigger Steamboat but with an airport 30 minutes away,” he laughs. “The outdoor mindset, the trails, and cross-country skiing” are just what they were seeking, he says.

Working in management consulting and finance, Chris’ took an interest in “team building and strength/personality assessments, the ‘business coaching’ side,” he says. “Counseling and inspiring others help me build ‘trusted confidant’ relationships with business owners,” Chris believes, adding, “I love seeing people maximize their potential.”

“Many accountants have enough to do with accounting and tax preparation and don’t analyze the business or get to know the owners,” Chris states. “I love coming alongside businesses, digging into the numbers, and helping find ways to improve profits, processes, and people.”

Reflecting on his still-new life in Park City, “I love the work/life balance and how business owners and entrepreneurs make time for the things we love like powder days,” Chris observes. “I believe it contributes to the positive attitudes I experience in PC every day.”

We’re glad Chris is here sharing his positive outlook with his new neighbors while helping PC’s small businesses.  See what he can do for you at CFO-4u.biz.
