PARK CITY CHAMBER/BUREAU ANNOUNCES WORKFORCE, HOUSING EVENTS ON AUGUST 31ST
Workforce Panel Discussion to be followed by Board of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity Expo
August 9, 2021 – (Park City, Utah): The Park City Chamber of Commerce / Convention and Visitors Bureau (Chamber/Bureau), working in conjunction with Park City Board of REALTORS®, has announced two upcoming events on August 31st that will focus on two critical issues facing the town’s sustainability concerns: workforce labor and housing.
A workforce panel discussion entitled “The Challenges, Opportunities and Best Practices to Build Success” will address a key issue emerging from the pandemic – a shortage of skilled and work-ready employees. Workforce shortages are forcing many businesses to reduce hours and employers are scrambling for new recruitment and retention strategies.
The panel will include Jeff Jones, Summit County’s Economic Development Director; Jonathan Weidenhamer, Economic Development Director for Park City Municipal; Patrick Donegan - Workforce Development Specialist for Department of Workforce Services - WDD Division and Worley Pace - Consolidated Veteran Service Representative for Department of Workforce Services - WDD Division. Additional panelists from the Park City business community have been invited to share best practices for recruitment and retention.
Panelists will make opening presentations and review regional trends, the status of the job market, transit, daycare, and work visa status. The lack of affordable housing and development of a countywide workforce housing coalition will also be discussed. A question-and-answer period will follow. The two-hour panel discussion begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Park City and is free.
The Housing Opportunity Expo kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Park City Board of REALTORS® at 1889 Prospector Avenue. Presented by the Board of REALTORS® in conjunction with Park City Chamber/Bureau and open to the public at no charge, the Expo offers access to expert advice on housing availability and options. Representatives of Mountainlands Community Housing Trust, Christian Center of Park City and Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties will be on hand along with local housing resource representatives.
